sketch by Amelia Eloisa - Mexico: Dipak guiding/leading in the mountain

I was born and grew up in a small rural hamlet of central-west Nepal, in the lap of mighty Himalaya’s Manasalu range. I have been working as a mountain leader in foothills of the Himalayas for the last twenty-five plus years. My trek to the Himalayas includes: Island Peak expedition (upto 5830 m.); Base Camp Everest 5365 m. (many times), Kalapatthar (5545 m.) repeatedly, Gokyo Ri and ChoLa Pass (5420 m. ) many times, Annapurna Round or known as Thorong La Pass (5416 m. ) multiple times, Annapurna Base Camp, Langtang and other treks multiple of times.

I have travelled to few other countries includes: India (Kolkatta, Darjeeling, Varanasi, Bengalore, Chennai, Agra, Delhi, Haridwar); Tibet (Lhasa from Kathmandu on a Jeep trip in 2005), Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore (2009 to 2011), South Africa (Capetown, Pretoria, Kruger National Park, Drakensberg) etc.

Professionally, I have been leading people in the mountains (Himalayas of Nepal), inspiring hundreds of them to live better, helping changing their lives, and transforming them into a better person as far as I could.

I believe Nepal is instrumental to the LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCES, and the richest in SPIRITUAL POWER with myths, mysteries, and faiths more than anywhere.

With these experiences in the mountain I am working on a book project namely SAGARMATHA – Melting by Tears or Tears in the Himalayas (mt. Everest), and 10 Lessons Mountain taught me in 20 Years. And, began a dream project namely Swaa Gamya to run in the birthplace with much emotions, inspiration, and dedication.

I was admitted with attractive scholarship to pursue PhD at Western Michigan University in Political Science in 2019. But, US Embassy- Nepal rejected my Visa application three consecutive times showing white supremacist behaviour towards me.

I have an M Phil in English with Dissertation on Nepali Nationalism from Pokhara University entitled “Discoursing Nepali Nationalism as Emotions”. I have a Master of Business Studies with International Marketing focus and thesis entitled “Marketing and Networking Channels of Nepal Tourism Board (Comparative study of India Tourism, Sri Lanka Tourism, Malaysia Tourism, Thai Tourism Authority, and Singapore Tourism) & B.Ed. in English and Economics from Tribhuvan University. Furthermore, I hold Diploma in TESOL (Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages) from London Teacher’s Training College and a licensed English language teacher. I prepared and offered a course of BUSINESS COMMUNICAITON, as a part-time Faculty at Ace International Business School (ACE-Ibs) under Queen Margaret University, UK.

I am a researcher of Nepal Studies under CASSA (Center for Advanced Studies in South Asia) in which my focus of research is Nationalism and Emotions, Tourism and Development, Politics, and Culture.

Behaviorally, I am a humanist. I have learned to work for community, in service of others selflessly from my childhood memory of mentor and social leader Jas Bahadur Gurung who hailed from my hometown, Jarang in Gorkha.

In this site, you will learn about my personal life, projects I am involved and interested in, and my views on tourism, social issues, politics, and literature. I am not sure if this web-page is worth to you, but life is a journey of experiences and exposures. If you find worthless, sorry for taking your precious time.

Thank you and Welcome Again !
